POSERS, by JD

POSERS

Okay so this topic is pretty much old talk by now; hell even the terminology is old, and yet it still reigns strong.  But honestly... who hates it when people try to be someone they clearly are not?

Number 1:  I understand that people sometimes feel pressured around certain people and they feel obligated to try and fit in... however, does that excuse bullshitting them and trying to make them think you know what you're talking about?

Answer?  No!  If you don't know anything about what the group of people you are hanging around is talking about, then just admit it.  Keep quiet.  Now if they ask you question... I realize it's hard, but sometimes just being honest and saying "I don't know" is just the best way to go.

Now granted some groups can be pretty bad and they try and hassle you for not knowing anything... but in the end which looks worse?  Admitting you know nothing?  Or trying to make it seem like you know something but in the end you really don't?

In the end... being a poser is pretty much the worst.

Number 2:  If you really are feeling pressured with hanging around those people, why do you feel so obligated to hang around them?  Why not just try and find your own crowd?  I mean seriously, is it really that hard?

Number 3:  If you know you know nothing, stop bullshitting.  Nothing irritates people more than when you're being dishonest with them.  And seriously?  Poser Status?  Come on, it's pretty obvious.  Don't BS people who know the field that you're about to BS them about really well.  They will know.

Now in my history I have known so many posers... ever since freakin' elementary school I can name about 35 posers from that era ALONE!  And yes kids, my time was oh so long ago!

WHAT DO I HATE MOST ABOUT THEM?

Simple... them just being fake and trying to make everyone feel like their idiots.  I hate it when people try to invade into a topic who know nothing about it and try to make everyone think they do.  It's the number one thing that irritates me.  Honestly, I'm not irritated with people who know nothing of what I'm talking about, simply because I don't expect everyone to know what I'm talking about.  But please, don't come up to me or even butt in and try to make it seem that you know what I or my group is talking about.  It just makes you look bad.  If you want to cut in then just ask.  It's not that hard.  In fact I like it when people cut in at the RIGHT AND PROPER times in the conversation to ask what I'm talking about.  I'm more that obliging to try and help you learn something new.  But if you're just trying to be a pretentious poser?  No, I have a short fuse for you.

WHY DO I DEAL WITH THEM?

They're in my life, so what the hell can I do.  Posers are everywhere and there is nothing we can do about it.  At one point in time we're gonna need these people so screw it, just let 'em have it I guess.  Just keep quiet and bare it.

ADVICE TO POSERS:

Get a grip and get a life.  If you want to be apart of a group then don't act as if you know something you don't.  Just try and be apart of it by contributing in other ways.  Wait to open a new topic and talk about something you know.  If it's something no one has an interest in?  Then I suggest trying to find a mutual topic... or if you're really struggling?  FIND SOME NEW FRIENDS!  But for the love of everything that is rite with the world, don't Don't DON'T TRY AND ACT AS IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING!!!!!!

ADVICE TO PEOPLE WHO HAVE TO DEAL WITH POSERS:

Just bare it for as long as you can.  Don't be too rude but if they get on your nerves don't be afraid to show it.  If they end up leaving you for good then you're better off because having to deal with idiots like posers is life shortening and life isn't long.  You can live your life without them.
